Boyd Hill Guided Nature Tour with MAR:

We’ll kick off our retreat with a guided nature tour! It includes a copy of MAR’s recently released Flora Identification Guide: Rooted in Florida: A Journey Through Our Native Trees & Flora. You’ll use this guide to identify different plants and trees species with MAR’s expertise for the first half of the tour. Then you’ll have some time to explore on your own! The nature guide is yours to keep so that you can continue learning about Florida’s rich flora!

Lunch + Learn Sourdough Seminar with Kelsey Yates:

After the guided nature tour, we’ll head inside for lunch! Lunch is included in your ticket. While you eat, Kelsey will walk you through a “cooking show” style sourdough seminar. Contrary to popular belief, sourdough making is very passive, with short working steps that interlude periods of resting. Kelsey will present the four main hands-on steps by preparing several loaves at the different stages, bypassing the waiting periods of fermentation. After this demonstration, you will each have the opportunity to make and take home your own sourdough starter. Finally, your ticket includes a copy of Sourdough for the People—Kelsey’s love letter to Sourdough in magazine format—which gives a thorough set of instructions on the sourdough-making process for you to take home to your own kitchen!

Book + Bottle Guided Group Reading and Journaling Session for the book The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer:

After our Lunch + Learn, Book + Bottle will facilitate a group reading and journaling session. You do not need to read The Serviceberry in advance—a copy of the book is included in your ticket and you will receive it on the morning of the event. We will help you break into small groups and give you the tools to take turns reading the book aloud and answering journal prompts along the way. Your ticket also includes a journal and a pen. After you’ve spent some time reading in small groups, we’ll come together for a final group discussion of the book, journal prompts, and full experience of the day.
