Branchton Park’s Butterfly Garden Gets an Upgrade

MAR recently hosted the second phase of our butterfly garden planting at Branchton Park, and the community showed up in the most beautiful way. Families from the nonprofit 200 Muslim Women Who Care rolled up their sleeves, dug into the soil, and helped transform this space into an even more vibrant pollinator haven.

What We Planted at Branchton Park

About two months ago, MAR broke ground on this butterfly garden with our first round of plantings. Phase 2 picked up right where we left off. This time, volunteers installed 77 new plants across the site, adding color, texture, and life to every corner of the space. The plants included:

  • Blue Daze
  • Tropical Sage
  • Pinewood Lantana
  • Pentas
  • Elliott’s Lovegrass

Each species was selected to support pollinators and create a welcoming, thriving habitat for butterflies through every season.

Signs, Murals, and a Sensory Experience

One of the most exciting additions to this phase was the installation of the butterfly garden informational signs. These signs complement the stunning sensory mural that 200 Muslim Women Who Care created at Branchton Park, turning a stroll through the garden into an educational and immersive experience for visitors of all ages. Together, the mural and signage tell the story of the garden and the pollinators it supports.

There is nothing quite like watching families come together to build something lasting with their own hands. Volunteers from 200 Muslim Women Who Care showed up ready to work and did not stop until every plant was in the ground, every bed was mulched, and every sign was in place. The energy was contagious and the results speak for themselves.

We are so grateful to every volunteer who gave their time, enthusiasm, and heart to make this day a success.
